Nigerian musician Wizkid, who has been nominated for a Grammy, has made history by being the first African artist to get more than 10 billion streams on Spotify.
This shows how far his music can go and how long it can have an impact. As of January 2026, Wizkid is the most-streamed musician in Africa on the site, with over 9.5 billion streams. Burna Boy is in second place.
Tems has more than 4.4 billion streams, and Rema is in third place with 5.6 billion.
Tyla, a star from South Africa, comes next with 3.7 billion streams, while Ayra Starr is close behind with 3.3 billion.
A lot of Wizkid’s streaming success comes from global successes like “One Dance” with Drake, which has around four billion plays, and “Essence” with Tems, which has over 334 million streams.
His third studio album, Made In Lagos (Deluxe), is still his most-streamed project on Spotify, with over a billion listens.
